Have you been frustrated with where you are at in your health journey? Do you feel like you should be further along? When you look on Instagram or tik tok do you feel discouraged that your transformation doesn’t look like that, or it is taking too long?
We live in a time where instant gratification is all around us. We can order movies, groceries, and delicious food. We can amazon prime anything our heart desires and have it delivered to our doorstep. We are constantly bombarded with ads about taking a pill to lose weight or how a waist trainer can instantly transform our physique. What isn’t being shown is the hard work, dedication and persistence needed to make lasting change.
Let’s face it, change is hard, in the beginning stages of change we feel excited. However, when the excitement wears off that is when the real work begins, and that is often when we find ourselves giving up. Instead of glamorizing instant gratification, I want to be real with you. Change is hard, it requires sacrifice, consistency, and hard work. Staying the same is also hard, you are the one who must decide which hard you want to deal with.
Ten years ago, I embarked on the journey to win my pro card. It took a lot of sacrifice, a ton of mistakes, and a lot of grit to keep going forward. There was no magic pill to get me to where I am now. I know how it feels to get last place and now how it feels to get first. What matters is that I learned to enjoy the journey and to not quit.
Change takes time, it takes time to change your diet, it takes time to change your body and to change your health. There is not a magic pill, and it won’t happen overnight. There are times when you feel discouraged and there will be times when you mess up. There will be times you eat 10 donuts instead of 1 or skip the gym to go out with friends. What is important is that you don’t give up. Don’t let a set back be what prevents you from moving forward. All the change you desire takes diligence, there are no short cuts. It isn’t about being perfect, it is about enjoying the journey and learning to embrace the ups and downs. Don’t quit now, show some grit and keep going.
