Back To The Basics

Are you unsure of what healthy even is, with the large amounts of information you are given on a daily basis. Claims of high carbs, no carbs, do cardio, cardio is the devil, and lifting is king, have people scratching their heads, and wondering what healthy even is. What if instead of being bombarded with information we go back to the basics and simplify what healthy is.

Let's face it, there is no shortage of information when it comes to health. There are always new programs, new diets, new work outs and new supplements that promise great results. Information overload is a real thing, it causes difficulty in making a decision when faced with too many choices. Several years back, I remember sitting in my car crying before going to the grocery store. I had been on a strict meal plan from my coach, and when I stopped doing the coaching, I had no idea what to eat. I was told fruit was bad along with several other foods that were deemed healthy. I did what any normal person does and began to look up healthy food on the internet. What I read only left me more confused and frustrated. Maybe you can relate?

Nutrition and health don't need to be complicated, tricky or frustrating. My goal for all of my clients is to simply their healthy journey by taking them back to the basics.

  1. Eat mindfully and calmly

  2. Choose whole foods that make you feel your best

  3. Move your bodies every day

  4. Rest and recover every day

  5. Get fresh air and natural light every day

  6. Balance meaningful work and play every day

How many people do you know that do these things everyday? Excellence and results from from consistently mastering the fundamentals, and we all need help practicing those. Remember this is a practice, instead of finding flaws, dwelling on the past, and over criticizing your mistakes, look for the awesome. Where are you succeeding, what are your strengths, what are your resources, and advantages? When we succeed we feel inspired and motivated to grow and continue.

If you are reading this and thinking to yourself, this seems too simple... you aren't wrong. It is simple, but some of the most simple things, are the hardest. Stuff that is hard but feels familiar, like working a job you hate, starting another new diet, or getting injured in the gym after going too hard, takes a lot of effort but isn't taking you anywhere. Things that are simple and done consistently can take you the farthest.

Join me on this journey of getting back to the basics and practicing these healthy fundamentals to lead happier, healthier, whole lives. Tune in next week for a dive into our first healthy habit.
